Market Floater/ Special Events Assistant - 2019 Season


Type of position: A part-time position available sporadically from first market (Memorial Day weekend) through last market (last Saturday in September) to fill in for EBT Coordinator, Market Greeter, Kids Coordinator, or Market Manager; provides additional support for Special Events. Potential to turn into a larger job.

Must be available Saturday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, as needed
Must be available Wednesday, 1-5:30pm, as needed

The Market Floater will provide temporary coverage, on a as needed basis, for the other employee positions of EBT Coordinator, Market Greeter, Kids Coordinator, or Market Manager. Each position has its own description/duties (see position description for details). Floater will receive training for a variety of roles. For Special Events Assistant, job duties will vary based on the event, but could include set up and break down, being the point person for the event, and assisting with planning.

Scheduling for Floater/Special Events Assistant will be done as far in advance as possible; may be needed last minute, as sickness/ emergencies arise. We anticipate needing coverage around three Saturday markets per month and every Wednesday, mid-June through mid-August.

INFORMATION BOOTH DESCRIPTION:
The Information Booth is the hub of Operations for the market. Patrons can find information about various related topics here, as well as purchase a variety of market merchandise and pick up AK Grown materials. The EBT Booth is also located here- patrons can swipe debit/credit/quest cards in exchange for market tokens/coins. Vendors, and potential vendors, come here for various reasons, with questions (usually for the Manager). The Information Booth also sells Turkey Raffle tickets, a fundraiser for the HFM.


SKILLS REQUIRED
Must be able to commit to entire market season, as needed
Have excellent customer service skills and maintain a positive attitude; must be able to multitask, while maintaining a calm presence
Should have basic knowledge of Homer and the Farmers Market
Must have basic experience handling money and keeping accurate sales records

May help plan special events, such as Zucchini Fest, Market Demonstrations, Harvest Party, etc.
